Dr. Samuel Wilson is an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research focuses on understanding and improving the health outcomes of people (especially young adults) living with sickle cell disease (SCD). He is currently studying how to better manage iron overload, stroke, and other adult complications in SCD, and investigating ways on navigating the challenging transition from pediatric to adult SCD care. He is also studying biomarkers of accelerated aging in SCD, which may yield future interventions to reduce morbidity and mortality in the aging SCD population.
