Dr. Z. Jim Wang is a distinguished university professor of pharmacology, neurology, and bioengineering, at the University of Illinois medical campus in Chicago (UIC). Dr. Wang has studied chronic pain in sickle cell disease for the past 2 decades. His research covers clinical pain characterization, pain genetics, epigenetics, protein phosphorylation and gut microbiome mechanisms for chronic pain in sickle cell disease. His research is supported by an Outstanding Investigator Award (R35 HL177406-01; previously, R35 HL140031) from the NHLBI, NIH.
