Emma Pappano, BS, is a third-year medical student at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine. She is a recipient of the NIH NIDDK T35 grant, through which she conducted research on sickle cell disease under the mentorship of Dr. Santosh Saraf. Her work focuses on the role of intravascular hemolysis in driving complement activation in sickle cell disease.
